Portfolio of a Middle School Professional Educator
MSU's Master of Arts in Educational Technology (MAET) program has prepared me to thoughtfully use technologies to support teaching and learning in a range of educational environments. This technology showcase represents some of the projects I've completed in the program.  Many of the concepts, ideas, projects, and/or technologies are now being applied in my classroom. Cyberbullying Glog

Glogs are interactive posters which can be loaded with text, graphics, music, and videos.  This glog is designed to raise student awareness about the issue of online bullying.  I teach a unit on internet safety and as a formative assessment, have students choose one of the topics from the unit to focus on and create their own Glogster about that topic.

Who Are You? It Matters for Your Future!

In order for middle school students to explore careers in a meaningful way, they need to know themselves. This video describes an assignment that will help students on this voyage of self-discovery through digital storytelling. I had the "flipped classroom" idea in mind when I made this video. I think it would be a good assignment for them to watch at home, because students would want to immediately begin collecting some photo resources for their own digital stories!

Just Shoot Me

Our first assignment of the summer program was to upload a photo of ourselves taken on campus that would somehow represent us personally.  That's me doing a round-off in front of the Education banners at Erickson Hall.  I did a round-off because I coach cheerleading and also wanted to show the  exuberance I was feeling the first day of the program. The education banner reads, "Teaching for Tomorrow"s World."
Technology:  Picassa Web, digital camera

De-Motivational Poster

The topic was behaviorism and what motivates students to learn. The group task was to create a poster depicting exactly the opposite!
